In this workshop we will look at “The Art of Sleeping” through a number of different lenses and in particular we will study how the Yoga Asanas and Pranayama can enhance not only the quality of your life on a day to day basis, but also the quality of your sleep every night of the year. Based on Karins 45 years of practicing and teaching Yoga and the work of Matthew Walker’s ground breaking book. “Why we sleep”, we will delve into the mysteries of sleep and how deep and profound sleep affects our physical and mental health, our productivity, and creativity throughout our lives.

Karin Stephan is a leading Iyengar yoga teacher in the United States with a career that has spanned more than 30 years. She credits her understanding and appreciation of the human body to the teachings of BKS Iyengar, the world’s foremost living yoga master.As a student of Mr. Iyengar’s since 1972 and a certified Iyengar teacher, Karin incorporates his insights and acute sense of observation into her yoga practice and teaching on a daily basis.


Fundamentals Of Movement

Bartenieff Fundamentals  are a set of principles for corrective body movement developed by Irmgard Bartenieff, who studied with Randolf Laban in Germany (1925) After coming to the United States in the 1940’s. as a physical therapist she developed the method in the form of a set of exercises based on the concepts and principles of kinesiological functioning that can be extended into all types of movement possibilities.

Marcia Ward LMT has a busy Structural Integration practice and is a certified Laban /Bartenieff movement analyst. Marcia specializes in exploring the functional as well as expressive aspect of human movement.

She will be teaching six progressive workshops for those students who would like to deepen the art of living, breathing, moving and expressing in this creative human experience.
